Nigerian international Alex Iwobi has been backed by his boss to stay closer to the final third, where he can impact more on games.
The 22-year old started the season as an outsider in the starting eleven but his recent performances has warrant a rethink by his coach.
With a goal and two assists so far, Iwobi was again pivotal in Arsenal recent outing against Watford, having a hand in both goals after coming up as a substitute. His cross led to Craig Cathcart’s own goal before playing a role in Ozil’s goal.
In a section with Standard Sport Emery acknowledge his hard work and quality.
“He works hard every day,
Three weeks ago he was out of the team for two weeks with an injury.
I’m very happy with him and his mentality. He has the quality to play right or left, to do more one-on-ones against the opposition.” said Emery
“I want him to stay nearer the box to score and be more aggressive, finding assists for team-mates. This is the way for him and other players.” he added
Alex Iwobi will now hope to increase his tally for the season when Arsenal play against Qarabag on Thursday in the Europa League.
