Nigeria U-17 team has booked their place in the upcoming 2019 U-17 AFCON in Tanzania, after edging out The Black Starlets of Ghana on penalties.
It was a breathtaking game as Ghana dominated most of the first half of the game. Despite, their dominance there was nothing to celebrate for The Black Starlets or even the Nigerian team in the first half as it ended in a goalless draw.
The game changed in the second half when Ghana scored in the 54th minute but Nigeria leveled up few minutes later through Akinkunmi Amoo.
With no other goal scored after 90 minutes the game was therefore decided on penalties. Luck shined on Manu Garba’s boys who scored all but one of their 4 spot kicks. Ghana scored once, missing three of their 4 spot kicks eventually leaving Nigeria to celebrate a 3-1 penalty win.
Amoo was the culprit while David Ishaya, Samson Tijani and Muhammad Ibrahim converted their spot kicks for Eaglets.
Nigeria will now join Tanzania, Morocco, Cameroon, Uganda and Angola to decide the four teams for 2019 Fifa U-17 World Cup in Peru.
