Sarri: Chelsea are now closer to Liverpool and Man City
Chelsea played out an entertaining 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Saturday.
Eden Hazard continued his brilliant form this season scoring in the 25th minute to give Chelsea the lead.
The Blues were on course to winning the game but a late strike from their former player Daniel Sturridge settled the game in a draw.
Sarri who had earlier tipped Liverpool and Man City as favorite for the title was positive about his team’s performance after the game. He spoke of Chelsea getting closer to the two teams than earlier thought.
“No, I think they are a step forward.” Sarri spoke of Liverpool and Man City
“but I think also that we are closer than I thought one week ago,” he added.
The former Napoli boss also spoke of his disappointment with the result,
“I am disappointed because they scored in the last two minutes but in the end I am really very happy, first of all with the performance and I think also that the draw may be the right result. The match was wonderful.” Said the coach.
Hazard so far this season, has been very prolific in front of goal. He currently leads the Premier League top scorer chart with six goals.
Sarri reiterated on his initial stand of him finishing with 40 goals. He also tipped Willian, Morata and Pedro to score more than 10 goals this season.
“I think that he is able to score 40 goals so he has to score another 33. I think so and he is trying to do it.” said Sarri.
“Hazard is the first but I think Pedro, Willian and [Alvaro] Morata will be able to score more than 10 goals in the season. Pedro [already] has three goals.” he concluded.
Chelsea next game comes up on Thursday against MOL Vidi in the Europa League.
